Latarsha Carithers, Ph.D.

Dr. Latarsha Carithers is Chief of the Training, Mentored Research, and Workforce Development Section within the Scientific Review Branch of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. She oversees the review of a wide range of grant mechanisms such as institutional training grants and career development awards. Previously, Latarsha was a Scientific Review Officer at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and a Program Officer at the National Cancer Institute. She completed a Science and Technology Policy Fellowship at the Institute of Medicine (now the National Academy of Medicine). Latarsha also earned a B.S. in biology from Spelman College and a Ph.D. in pathobiology and molecular medicine from Columbia University.
