ABOUT WIN-NEXTGEN™

THE HISTORY OF WIN-NEXTGEN

Our History

The United States is facing a critical labor shortage in the STEM, supply chain, and skilled trades sectors—collectively known as the “3S Workforce.” This issue is emerging from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, an aging population, declining birthrates, ongoing supply chain disruptions, and rapid advances in AI and technology. Addressing this labor shortage is vital for securing the nation’s economic future, ensuring national security, and maintaining global competitiveness. We have a pressing need to harness the untapped potential of the next generation.

WIN-NextGen™ is a technology-powered nonprofit committed to guiding and equipping “NextGens” ages 13–24 for in-demand, high-growth careers in the AI era and beyond. Through our innovative GT3S™ Platform, mentorship programs, and employer partnerships, we bridge the gap between workforce development, education, and employment—empowering the NextGen to thrive in the workforce of tomorrow.

WIN-NextGen™ builds upon the legacy of Girls Action Network® (GAN.) Over the years, plans were periodically considered to create a brother organization for GAN. With the rapidly evolving world of work due to transformative forces, our partners and stakeholders started to request that all youth be included. Below is our story.

Our Story

2003-2013
Foundation
GAN Is Born

After mentoring girls in middle and high schools for over 15 years, our Founder was troubled by a disturbing trend affecting young women. I consistently observed that young girls lacked access to information about traditional and nontraditional career opportunities and the related educational paths.

The “Analog Programming Years” are at their best with in-person after school and weekend career development seminars, mentoring, Annual Tea’s, and summer STEM programs with middle and high school and university partners. .

2013-2023
Focused Learning
The Summer STEM Program Years

Given the many outstanding and existing organizations whose missions serve at cross-sections to its efforts, our Founder strived to enable GAN to serve as the connector among them, focusing on collaborative partnerships and associations.

The SSEP years focused on providing GAN Scholar students with a unique opportunity to participate in partner organizations’ curricula in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, engineering, physics and healthcare at established universities in the Northeast and South.  The experience also afforded global and national cultural learnings and college preparation and career exploration.

2024-2025
Transformation Ignited
The Modernized Strategic Plan

As a supply chain executive, our Founder experienced and navigated the impact of the acceleration of the labor shortage resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, an aging workforce; resignations and retirements; a new phase of industrialization and rapid technological advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and other areas that require a tech-ready workforce.

The Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 is designed to pivot GAN from its former analog processes to become a digitally transformed organization able to connect with the iGeneration in their preferred modes, collaborate efficiently with program partners, and create workforce pathways for its members in STEM, Supply Chain, and the Skilled Trades.

2025-Future
Transformation Continues
WIN-NextGen™ is Born

Further, with the rapidly evolving world of work due to transformative forces, our partners and stakeholders started to request that all youth be included. We agreed because boys and young men were a necessary part of the solution, along with girls and young women, to solve the labor crisis, the Workforce Innovation Network – NextGen (WIN-NextGen™) was born.

Continuing the digital transformation, Members (ages 13 – 24) have access to software-as-a-service (“SaaS”) technology to participate in workforce development training and connect with education and employment opportunities to equip them with the tools necessary to become workforce-ready for their designated career pathways in STEM, supply chain, and skilled trades in the AI era and beyond.

"With your help, WIN-NextGen™ has been able to make meaningful impact over the years. As we begin a new modernized chapter to leverage technology, we hope to be able to expand and grow to help many more NextGens participate and lead in the 3S Workforce™, serving communities, companies and countries over the course of time."
