Workforce Ready Job Seeker: Foundational Skills & The Interview Deep Dive

Searching for a job can be intimidating. Where can you find job leads? What are the building blocks of a resume? How do you network without feeling nervous? What happens when you land an interview? And most importantly, where do you find help when you need it?

The Job Search Skills workshop will help WIN-NextGen™ members learn core job-seeking skills needed for entry-level employment, plus internships, and scholarships that may require these same job search skills. 

Lesson 1: Getting Ready for Success: Building Job Hunt Basics

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will recognize how early job hunt preparation creates competitive advantage in today’s market, identify four key strategies to gain competitive advantage in the future of work job market, and create an action plan for immediate implementation.

Learning Outcomes

Module 1: Digital Presence Essentials

  • Apply the “professional but authentic” standard to clean up social media and create a basic LinkedIn presence.

Module 2: Credential Building

  • Identify relevant, accessible certification opportunities that demonstrate initiative beyond traditional education.

Module 3: Early Networking

  • Develop a networking strategy using existing connections and LinkedIn to build relationships before needing them.

Module 4: The Building Blocks of Your Resume Story

  • Identify and document existing experiences to develop a strategic foundation to build your resume.
